There has been an increase in car registrations in the Shannonside Northern Sound region so far this year.
The figures have been released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. Cavan has seen the highest amount of new car registrations in the region this year with 758.
Leitrim has seen the highest percentage increase, up 15% on the same time last year. Monaghan and Longford have both seen increases of over 10% with 587 and 345 new car registered so far this year respectively.

Finally Roscommon seen the lowest percentage increase with 3.5%, however 684 new cars have been registered in 2024 which is the second highest amount in the region. Nationally, new car sales are up 6% on 2023's figures with over 71,000 new car registrations in 2024.
