163 people were caught drink driving in the Cavan-Monaghan region in the
first 9 months of last year. The figures were revealed in the latest release from the Central Statistics Office. Up to September last year, 72 drug driving incidents were also recorded in Cavan and Monaghan.
Both figures are a drop on the same period in 2023, where 231 drink driving incidents and 80 drug driving incidents were logged.
10 years ago, 337 people were caught drink driving during the first 9 months of 2015, whilst only 9 were caught drug driving. However, roadside drug tests were not introduced until 2017.
