18% of pupils absent for 20 or more days in 2022 locally

An average of 18% of secondary school students in Cavan and Monaghan were absent for 20 or more days in 2022.

The figures are contained in the latest release from the Central Statistics Office. Incorporating all forms of secondary schools in Cavan, 20% of pupils were missing from school for at least 20 days. While in Monaghan, 14.8% of pupils were absent for 20 days or more.

Both figures for 2022 were below the national average of 23.3%.
