The 25th anniversary of Ballybay's twinning with Gergweis was celebrated in recent weeks.
In 2000, Ballybay signed a twinning agreement with Gergweis, which is located in the province of Bavaria, Germany. An official delegation made up of Cllr. Sinead Flynn of the Ballybay-Clones Municipal District, Municipal District Co-Ordinator Matthew Lambe & MD Staff Officer Ms Gillian Costello visited Gergweis in late June. They were also joined by long-time visitors Martin & Grainne McAviney, Claire & Joe O’Connell and Hannah McKenna.
The visit took place on the weekend of 27th-29th June to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the town twinning between Ballybay, County Monaghan, Ireland, and Gergweis, Osterhofen, Bavaria
