Cllr Alan Johnson has been elected as the Chairperson of Monaghan's new Local Community Safety Partnership.
The safety partnership includes a broader range of members than its predecessor, the Joint Policing Committee.
Mandatory members include local councillors, local authority officials, An Garda Síochána, representatives from the HSE and the Child and Family Agency Tusla as well as community and resident representatives.
The objective of the LCSP is to improve community safety and well-being through a collaborative, community-led approach by bringing together residents, local authorities, state services and community representatives to create and implement local community safety plans.
Cllr Johnston says he is looking forward to working with the Partnership to develop and implement a Community Safety Plan for Monaghan which will make the county a safer one for all our communities.
