Almost 10,000 benefit from National Childcare Scheme locally

Almost 10,000 children in Cavan and Monaghan have benefitted from the National Childcare Scheme.

The National Childcare Scheme (NCS) provides financial supports to parents to help reduce the cost of early learning and childcare.

It provides a subsidy of €2.14 an hour to go towards the cost of childcare.

According to the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley, a total of 9,504 children in Cavan and Monaghan have benefitted from the scheme.

This is made up of 4,416 in Cavan and 5,088 in Monaghan.

Nationally, a total of 218,366 children benefitted from the scheme last year.
