The Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) is a form of social housing support available for people who have a long-term housing need. Any household assessed as eligible for social housing is immediately eligible for HAP.
The latest available data covers the period to the end of Q3 2024. It showed Cavan had 441 such HAP properties and Monaghan had 500. Nationally there is almost 55,000 such tenancies across the country, with Dublin having the most of them at over 20,000.
