Almost one and a half million euro has been paid out across the Northern Sound region under the Humanitarian Assistance Scheme to assist householders affected by Storm Éowyn earlier this year.
That's according to the Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary, who released the latest figures, as of September 30th, after a parliamentary question from Fianna Fáil TD, John Connolly.
The Humanitarian Assistance Scheme is administered through local Community Welfare Services.
In Co. Cavan, there was 7168 claims registered to the Department, and 4281 claims granted.
This resulted in a total pay-out of €1,029,242.11, with an average of €240.42.
In Co. Monaghan, there was a total pay-out of €409,592.25, with an average of €201.97.
In the county, 3772 claims were made, and 2028 claims were rewarded.
According to Minister Calleary, 96,449 claims for the scheme were registered, and over 58,000 were rewarded.
The total value of claims paid out was €14.17 million for Storm Éowyn related claims.
In his response to the parliamentary question last week, Minister Calleary outlined that there are currently 98 applications yet to be decided upon.
Furthermore, there are 37,894 applicants whose claims have been decided and have not been awarded a payment.
