To mark World Mental Health Day, the Samaritans is trying to take mental health issues out of the shadows.
The charity has been 70 years in the making, and answered 400,000 calls last year.
Brenda Nolan from Drogheda Samaritans was speaking about mental health on today's Joe Finnegan show.
She highlighted that 87% of callers are suffering from loneliness.
The charity recently opened a new branch covering Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Cavan.
It runs training recruitment twice a year, in the spring and autumn.
Nolan said that the response she has gotten from the people of Monaghan and Cavan has been absolutely amazing.
She said: "We've been up to Monaghan a number of times, Castleblayney and Carrickmacross, doing awareness, reach out basically to people.
"The response we have gotten is absolutely amazing. We are so grateful to the people of Monaghan and Cavan," she added.
