"The Irish Cancer Society won't stop until everyone who is given a diagnosis of cancer survives it." That's according to Bawnboy native Tara Doonan who is this year's Daffodil Day ambassador. The school teacher is leading the campaign to say "thank you" to those she credits with helping her through the most difficult experience of her life.
Tara says an important part of today's initiative is that money raised will go towards funding researching. For Tara, this element of fundraising is profound, as due to research she was able to take relatively new medication to treat her aggressive form of cancer. The local school teacher said if she was diagnosed with her form of cancer 10 or 20 years ago, then her prognosis would of been very different. Speaking to Northern Sound, the West Cavan woman highlighted the importance of donating today, stating that "anything that you can give will go a long way."
