Today, January 6th, marks Nollaig na mBan, traditionally known as Women's Little Christmas, marked on the Feast of the Epiphany.
Historically in Ireland, this was a day when women were finally able to rest after the busy Christmas period.
In more recent years, Nollaig na mBan has been joyfully re-introduced in many communities, often through gatherings and events that also raise funds for worthy charities - celebrating women, connection and generosity.
Blayney Blades will hold an event next to mark the occasion.
The event will take place next Monday, October 12th, in the Iontas Theatre, with around 60 women expected to come together for a day filled with fun and to also acknowledge the history of Blayney Blades.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Blades manager Lorraine Cunningham said it's very important for the group to celebrate this event.
She believes the tradition of Nollaig na mBan is as strong now than ever before. Lorraine told Northern Sound: "It's a very important event in the Blayney Blades calendar and we celebrate it on an annual basis. It's a day of celebration to acknowledge all the previous women who have celebrated Nollaig na mBan across the history of Ireland."
