The Agriculture Minister says his Department is working hard to stop the spread of animal borne diseases.
Farmers in border counties are being urged to watch out for bluetongue in cattle after two cases were confirmed in Northern Ireland.
A housing order remains in place for poultry after a fifth outbreak of bird flu was confirmed this week.
Minister Martin Heydon says there is no danger for humans and their aim is to limit both diseases:
"My department works night and day at keeping these diseases off our island, whether it's avian influenza or bluetongue.
"Realistically, we have come through a number of years of successfully keeping them out, when both diseases have become widespread across Europe, that's a challenge we continue to face," Minister Heydon added.
