'Brexit has made a united Ireland more likely'

Seven out of 10 think the Good Friday Agreement remains good for Northern Ireland, though a majority now think it should be reformed.

Two thirds of people say Brexit has made a united Ireland more likely. It's one of the key findings from the Northern Life and Times Survey. Seven out of 10 think the Good Friday Agreement remains good for Northern Ireland, though a majority now think it should be reformed.

Professor Katy Hayward who analysed the report, says the findings about a border poll point to a significant shift since the UK left the EU. "One really interesting finding from the survey is the quite significant shift. So, in the past we have asked if a united Ireland is likely in 20 years? Is a United Kingdom likely to exist in 20 years?

"Before it was always that a United Kingdom was more likely to exist than a united Ireland. And now for the first time, we have seen quite a significant shift," she added.
