Caitriona Balfe has paid tribute to her father ahead of his funeral mass this afternoon.
Jim Balfe, a former garda sergeant who was based in Scotstown for over two decades, passed on the second of August.
In an online post, Caitriona said "Big Jim was a mountain of a man, big in stature and personality".

She added "that his presence and influence was huge in her life and that he was loved by so many and will be missed by us all".
She's also thanked all Jim's neighbours and friends for their kindness and thoughtfulness over the past week.
Jim's funeral mass takes place at twelve noon this afternoon at St. Dympna's Church, Tydavnet, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
