A Co Monaghan councillor has highlighted his concerns over the continued lack of access to some local forest parks since Storm Eowyn. Fine Gael's Richard Truell made particular reference to the forest walk at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig and Dartery Forest Park.
According to Cllr Truell, trees which were decimated by Storm Eowyn are still on pathways and people are not able to access the popular amenities the way they used to. As a result, Cllr Truell is calling on Coillte to take action on this issue and get tress cleared off pathways and trees removed which are still lying on telephone wires. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Truell said while he understands that Coillte is "inundated" with work, he hopes action will be taking soon so that people can make the most of their local forest walks:
