A local councillor has praised outdoor staff from Monaghan County Council who he says have done tremendous work to get salt out during cold snaps already this year. Despite this, Cllr Richard Truell is calling for schools and crèches which are not far off the salting route to be included. According to Cllr Truell, schools such as Drumcorrin NS, Killleevan NS and Latton NS are narrowly missing out on essential salting services.
He believes it "wouldn't take much" for salting lorries to go "off route" for only half a kilometre in some cases or whatever the nearest point would be to that school.
