At yesterday's Monaghan County Council monthly meeting it was agreed to take in charge the Lough Na Glack estate on the edge of Carrickamcross.
It's a welcome development following local representatives highlighting the need for the local authority to be responsible for the Co Monaghan housing estate.
According to Fine Gael councillor, Peter Conlon a lot of work has been completed on this estate recently especially by Monaghan county council.
The local councillor says this will now mean lighting, road works and footpaths will be looked after by Monaghan County Council going forward. Cllr Peter Conlon says it's welcome news for the residents who up to now were left in limbo.
