A special meeting was held today by the elected members of the Carrickmacross/Castleblayney Municipal District to discuss the recent unease in the town of Carrickmacross.
All members of the local MD discussed what they said was serious issues that have taken in the place in the town in recent weeks.
The forum was headed up by Cathaoirleach of the Carrickmacross/Castleblayney Municipal District, Cllr PJ O'Hanlon. Cllr O Hanlon said as a united group of councillors we want the message to go out and loud and clear, that Carrickmacross is safe.
He highlighted that he along with others intend to meet with Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan in the coming days to discuss the issues of concern in the area. Cllr O' Hanlon says as a proud Carrickmacross man he says it;s a great town, to work in, visit or live in. The Fianna Fail representative said the presence of more Gardai on the streets of the Carrickmacross is a welcome development.
