The Carrickmacross Toy Library is now the hub of Toy Libraries Ireland. This is a new national movement promoting community toy libraries nation wide. A toy library is a community-based resource which enables families to borrow a wide selection of high-quality toys for a low fee. To celebrate the launch, Toy Libraries Ireland has released a 'Starting a Toy Library' playbook - which has been described as the ultimate how-to guide for setting up your own community toy library.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Kathriona McCague of Carrickmacross Toy Library said it's "fantastic" to have this initiative in Carrickmacross; "We recently launched Toy Libraires Ireland which is an initiative which is trying to get more Toy Libraries established throughout the country and Carrickmacross is serving as a hub of that. It allows people who are interested in setting up a Toy Library to get in contact with ourselves and come and see the facility and how it is set-up. Our founder Jill Tennon set up a guide on how to set up a Toy Library and that's available on the website also."
