Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy has said it is impossible to put into words how families across a number of communities are feeling after Saturday’s accident.
Speaking about the accident, Deputy Carthy outlined how well-known the five young people who were killed were in the wider community.
He said that the incident has sent shockwaves across the area, and that it will be hard for people outside of rural area to understand the number of people who are impacted.
The Cavan-Monaghan TD highlighted that the young people in the Carrickmacross and Magheracloone area have been through a lot, and said he hopes the services will be there to support them.
Deputy Carthy said: "The number of people who are impacted today is phenomenal. My heart breaks for them all, especially obviously, the families, but also their young friends.
"These are young people who shouldn't have to be dealing with grief such as this, they should be celebrating the images that came from Budapest yesterday, instead they're trying to come to terms with something that is incomprehensible," he added.
