Cavan and Monaghan are among the cheapest counties in Ireland.
Cavan, Monaghan, Longford, Roscommon, Leitrim and Donegal were deemed as some of Ireland's cheapest counties when many aspects of life are considered.
Saoirse Hanley, a journalist with the Irish Independent, compiled the costs, looking at things like rent, cinema costs, coffee, fitness facilities, GP costs and haircuts.
In her research, Saoirse determined that moving to Monaghan from Dublin could save her €1,842.40 per year, in Cavan she could save €1,476.40 per year.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Saoirse explained the price difference for something like a man's haircut.
"Certainly for men, my boyfriend often talks about how a haircut for him now where we live in Dublin would definitely cost him about €30, whereas a gentleman that I spoke to in Cavan was telling me that in his local barber shop, he can go in and ask for a fade and it'll be €15. So already that's half the cost. So I think it very much depends sometimes on what you have around you and what kind of business they're offering. Obviously sometimes if it's a small local business, sometimes they just have to charge more by virtue of being a smaller scale. Those things are important too, and it's not to say that they shouldn't be charging what they charge. But it is just interesting that it kind of depends on where you're going and what you're looking for. There is a case to be made, that certainly for some of the more basic things like a haircut or certainly for men in the barber shop, you're getting better value"
