Cavan and Monaghan in top five most expensive counties for car insurance

Car insurance prices can vary significantly depending on where you live.

A new car insurance index report by Chill Insurance has revealed Cavan and Monaghan as being ranked in the top five most expensive counties to insure your car in.

The average price for car insurance in Monaghan is €833 and €829 in Cavan.

Longford is the most expensive county with an average cost of €1,042.

That was followed by Louth and Limerick and then 4th and 5th expensive was Monaghan and Cavan. Car insurance prices can vary significantly depending on where you live. Insurers use your Eircode as a key factor, with different regions across Ireland facing higher or lower premiums based on local risk levels and claim histories.

This index report also found of the most popular car models the cheapest on average to insure in Ireland are the KIA Sportage, Hyundai Tucson and the Skoda Octavia.

And believe it or not, the report by Chill Insurance found your occupation actually plays a vital role in the price of your car insurance. The data revealed that tax inspectors come in with the cheapest car insurance at an average premium of €415.
