A Co Cavan councillor is calling for Larry Murrin, chairperson of Bord Bia to resign.
Bord Bia has responsibility for promoting Irish food, drink and agriculture abroad.
According to Cllr Shane P O'Reilly, Mr Murrin is the Chief Executive Officer of Dawn Farm Foods which were proven to have used Brazilian beef in their products.
Irish Farmers' Association President Francie Gorman, who sits on the board of Bord Bia, said that without farmer confidence, Bord Bia cannot do its job.
The issue is set to be discussed at a Bord Bia meeting tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, Cllr Shane P O'Reilly has described Mr Murrin as a "hypocrite."
He said we cannot ask someone to promote Irish safe green food throughout the world when he is not abiding by that himself.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr O'Reilly is calling on Mr Murrin to "do the decent thing" and "resign immediately."
