A Cavan County Councillor says he would recommend serving in the fire service as a career, though noted it's not all a bed of roses.
Cllr Damien Brady, served as a retained fire fighter for 25 years in Ballyconnell and has he recently retired from the service.
He outlined he comradery he experienced as a member of the team, noting the importance of being able to rely on each other when entering a burning building.
Cllr. Brady says the career is not for everyone, and outlined some of the incidents he saw over the years included road traffic collisions, work place accidents and more.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, he outlined the incident that pushed him to join the service.
