A Cavan councillor has called on the council to engage with government ministers on the increased cost-of-living.
Recent figures have shown more than 300-thousand households are behind on their electricity bills with a further 175 thousand struggling to pay gas bills.
Despite the increase in arrears the Government insists there will be no energy credits in the budget.
Noel Connell raised the issue of the cost of living at the recent full council meeting.
The Sinn Féin man noted that people are under pressure at the moment and was prompted to raise the issue due to his work on the Barnardos report as well as stories he has heard from people in his own constituency.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr. Connell explained the pressure some families are under.
