Cavan County Council is to continue its commitment to environmental projects and measures for the coming year with a budget allocation and new five-year Climate Action Plan. The budget allocation for green projects last year was €10.5m.
The public were invited to make submissions on the council's Climate Action Plan fore the coming five years. The Council says the plan is currently "in draft", the final version of which won't be adopted by elected members until next month.
Nitrates regulations, pollution, energy and wastewater treatment are some of the target areas for the local authority. Activities included in the Climate Action Plan include workshops, public information campaigns, green business initiatives and public events to raise public awareness and promote sustainable behaviour.
