An outbreak of bird flu's been confirmed in a flock of 30,000 turkeys, on a farm in County Laois.
Restriction zones have been established around the farm, after the outbreak was identified last Friday.
It's one of a number of flocks that have been impacted by outbreaks in recent weeks.
Co. Cavan man, Brendan Soden is the IFA's poultry vice-chairman - he says it's terrible timing in the run up to Christmas.
He said: "It continues to be a worrying time for all poultry farmers, with the news of the case last Friday in Co. Laois.
"Especially for those farmers who grow a small number of turkeys for the Christmas market.
"They've spent a lot of time, money, and effort, to grow these turkeys, to provide the extra income at this time of year.
"There seems to be a lot of this in the environment at the moment, so we continue to encourage people to remain vigilant, follow the Department of Agriculture's biosecurity regulations and housing order," Mr. Soden added.
