Cavan farmer Thomas Cooney believes that not much money will go into farmers pockets from Budget 2026.
Today's budget included a range of supports for the agriculture community, including an additional €85 million for TB in 2026.
This will bring the total budget to tackle Bovine TB to €157 million.
Minister for Agriculture, Martin Heydon said that he has also secured €280 million for the ACRES scheme in 2026.
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine's budget for 2026 is over €2.3 billion.
Mr. Cooney said welcomed some aspects of the budget for farmers.
He said: "There's probably not that much money going directly into farmers pockets, but that TB is probably a long-term investment.
"The consolidation, young farmer reliefs, transferring the land reliefs, all that is welcomed, that they're being held. The UK lost them last year, it caused serious problems for them.
"The beef and sheep farmers schemes seem to be announced for what they were last year," Mr. Cooney added.
