Cavan farmer welcomes update on Brazilian beef

Irish opposition to the use of the drugs came up during discussions on the Mercosur trade deal last year.

Irish farmers are welcoming the news Brazilian beef won't be hitting the shelves here this September.

The EU has implemented a ban on meat from that country due to the presence of antibiotics in Brazilian animals.

Co. Cavan farmer, Adam Woods, is the editor of the Irish Farmers Journal.

Last year he travelled to Brazil, where he highlighted how antibiotics are readily available in Brazilian herds.

Speaking to Northern Sound today, Woods said that the right decision has been made.
