A large scale forest fire that broke out in West Cavan yesterday afternoon was brought under control late last night.
Firefighters tackled what was described as a major fire for several hours. The large forestry fire at Snugborough, Ballyconnell broke out early yesterday afternoon.
Fire crews from Belturbet, Ballyconnell, and Killeshandra tackled the blaze, extinguishing the fire before 11pm last night. Firefighters worked in challenging conditions alongside the Civil Defence, Coillte and a helicopter was used for a number of hours too.
