Labour representative for Cavan-Belturbet, Liam van der Spek believes there has been a clear effort by the Israeli government to erase the state of Palestine.
Mr van der Spek attended a monthly protest outside the courthouse in Cavan town, which is organised by Cavan branch of the Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
The local representative said that he has not given up hope of a two state solution to the conflict, but he believes that a lot of talk from the Israeli administration is "two-faced".

However, he thinks that the European Union could put heavier sanctions on Israel:
