Cavan Monaghan Gardai celebrate 100 years at the heart of the community

Cavan Monaghan Garda Division celebrated its centenary event at the Civic Offices in Carrickmacross yesterday.

Minister Heather Humphreys was in attendance as were numerous other locally elected representatives.

And despite the adverse weather conditions, a large crowd gathered to join in the celebrations.

Proceedings began with a Centenary Parade at 11am from the Courthouse.

The Garda Band; Regional Ceremonial Unit; Garda members; staff; and retired members of the Force participated.

Meanwhile, An Garda Siochana was established in August 1922 following the ending of the Civil War and subsequent truce of July 1921.
