A Co Cavan pensioner is calling for the GAA to be more inclusive when it comes to older people.
Brian McDermott is Vice Chair of the Older People's Council in Cavan.
The GAA’s shift to a predominantly cashless and online-only ticketing system has drawn significant criticism for excluding older fans and creating a digital divide.
While the GAA has partnered with Age Friendly Ireland to improve accessibility, the online barrier remains a major hurdle for many elderly people.
Mr McDermott said he understands and appreciates the reasons why the GAA went online.
Despite this, he said it is "regrettable" that little effort has been made to accommodate older people.
As a result, Age Friendly Cavan in association with Cavan GAA is holding a drop-in information session around ticketing for GAA games.
The event will take place on Friday the 10th of July between 10:30am and 11:30m in the Breffni Gallaery, Kingspan Breffni Park.
Brian McDermott is encouraging older people to attend this event.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Brian is also reiterating calls for a designated turnstile at each game which would be available for older people to use or seek help from.
He is also calling for all clubs and communities to hold similar information sessions throughout the country.
