Cavan's Age Friendly Ambassador is reminding people about the issue of elder abuse.
Bob Gilbert, Cavan's Age Friendly Ambassador was speaking ahead of World Elder Abuse Day taking place this Sunday.
The day aims to highlight and raise awareness of elder abuse and neglect.

Elder abuse can take many forms including physical, pschological, financial, sexual and neglect.
Speaking to Northern Sound Mr. Gilbert says elder abuse can sometimes go unnoticed. "The big problem with elder abuse is that it is, in most cases, almost undetectable because it takes place usually within the boundaries of the home and a lot of abuse is carried out by a family member or relative, a carer or a friend."
