A Cavan senator has called for 'robust plans' to be put in place to tackle forestry impacted by Storm Éowyn.
Speaking in the Seanad earlier this week, Sinn Féin's Pauline Tully said there is a growing resentment and mistrust among farmers, with fallen trees still taking over hectares of land across the region.
She highlighted the need for a 'regional and species-balanced' approach to emergencies in the future.
An estimated 26,000 hectares of forests were felled by Storm Éowyn, with half of the forests owned by farmers and private landowners.
Senator Pauline Tully also noted the rise in both national and foreign enterprises 'buying up land' in West Cavan.
