A Co Cavan undertaker says a traditional Irish funeral is still the primary choice for people living in the Northern Sound region.
Colm Kieran of Kieran Brothers Funeral Directors says while traditional Irish funerals still make up for around 85 percent of his business, there is a clear increase in the number of cremations.
The Kingscourt undertaker outlined that trends have changed over the last 15-10 years, including the popularity of funeral homes and services becoming more personalised.
Speaking on this week's Joe Finnegan Show, the local undertaker said "unfortunately" there is a misconception about how expensive funerals can be.
He said a traditional religious Irish funeral in the Northern Sound region will cost a family between 5,000 and 7,000 euro depending on what the family choose.
