"Children must be given the chance to pause in such a fast paced world."
That's according to Co Cavan woman Kelly McMahon who is calling for "well-being" to become a standalone subject within school settings.
The Redhills woman has been a primary school teacher for 15 years and spent the last two years studying mindfulness, mediation and positive psychology and is now fully qualified to teach children, adolescents and adults.
In this fast paced world Kelly believes its "important" that we all have the necessary tools to calm our minds and regulate our emotions in order to enhance our positive well-being.
She believes that learning this at an early age will help alleviate mental health waiting lists in the future.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the local teacher says it's important to take a "proactive approach" so that future issues won't arise.
As a result, the Co Cavan woman has created her very own business called "Be Mindful Be Me" with the vision that mindfulness will be available to all children across the country and that well-being will become a standalone subject in the not too distant future.
