A Cavan woman is urging the public to beware of scams over the phone.
Anne, who lives in Co. Cavan, expressed her dismay following a phone call she received which informed her of suspicious activity in her bank account.
Anne was told a significant amount of money was being withdrawn from her account by her son, and that a mobile phone had been purchased with her money.
The scammers appeared to be professional and were offering solutions to allow Anne to retrieve her 'stolen' money.
Anne called her bank immediately before taking any further action.
