Cavan Women in Business Network is a professional network supporting women in business across Co Cavan.
An initiative of Local Enterprise Office Cavan, the network aims to connect, inspire, and empower women to grow their businesses, share expertise, and celebrate female entrepreneurship, locally, regionally, and nationally.
The network was first established 13 years ago and since then has engaged with over 500 women across 26-30 business sectors and has over 75 members and counting.
Gillian Madden is the Senior Enterprise Development Officer at the Local Enterprise Office in Cavan.
According to Gillian, recent data shows women now start about half of all new businesses, a rise from just under 30% a few years ago.
She says this is driven especially by younger women stepping into entrepreneurship.
Here in Ireland, research reports that one in four women would like to start their own business, and the number of female led high potential start-ups has grown from 8% in 2012 to 37% in 2022.
Gillian believes these trends underline why networks like Cavan Women in Business are so important.
As the new year gets underway, the membership portal has once again opened this week for people to renew their membership.
Gillian said this is also a great opportunity for new members to sign up and get involved. You can join online by following: https://www.localenterprise.ie/cavan/training-events/online-bookings/cavan-women-in-business-network-membership-2026.html
