The Chair of Cavan IFA Maurice Brady has been elected Ulster/Nth Leinster Regional Chair this afternoon.
He received 1,229 votes to 707 for Kevin Sweeney atthe election count in the Irish Farm Centre.
Maurice Brady thanked everybody who turned out to vote in the election and said he looked forward to working for farmers in the region.
In a statement issued to Northern Sound, he said the seven debates across the county executives were a valuable exercise and allowed him to hear the views and concerns of farmers.
He added that he will bring those issues and challenges to the National Officers' Committee when he takes up the role.
IFA President Francie Gorman thanked the two candidates for putting themselves forward for election.
Maurice Brady will begin his four-year term at the IFA AGM in 2026.
