A Cavan man has been crowned Irish sailor of the year for the second year in a row. Tom Dolan from Mullagh won the 2024 Solitaire du Figaro Papec, one of the most prestigious sailing races in the world. He became the first Irish man to do so and the first non-french national to win it.
Backed by local company, Kingspan, Smurfit Westrock, and Dubarry, he's planning to tackle the race again this year to defend his title.
Tom has also confirmed he will take on the 2028 Vendeé Globale, a solo round-the-world non-stop race. His aim is to be the first Irish sailor to finish the event.
