A local councillor has called for CCTV cameras to be reinstated at Shantemon Mountain in Castletara.
Cllr Stiofan Conaty has made the call following what he has described as 'dodgy dealings' taking place in the area. He said another issue in the area is fly tipping and Cllr Conaty believes the cameras would act as deterrent to address these ongoing issues.
The Sinn Fein Councillor has previously called on Cavan County Council to make contact with Coillte to call on them to install CCTV cameras in the area. Cllr Conaty says its Coillte s duty of care to residents in the area to address these concerns.
He says that this is a simple request but one that will benefit the area greatly going forward. Meanwhile Councillor Conaty says he has called on more Garda patrols in the area especially at night time.
