Cllr Sean Smith to be laid to rest this afternoon

The Funeral Mass for Cllr Sean Smith will take place this afternoon.

The Cavan County Councillor died on Sunday after a long illness.

Cllr Smith had served the people of Cavan for 44 years and is the longest serving local area representative in the county.

Cllr Smith's removal will take place from his home to St Mogue's Church in Bawnboy for Funeral Mass at 1pm.

He will be laid to rest immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
