Cllr Stiofán Conaty has been selected as the Cathaoirleach of the Bailieborough/Cootehill Municipal District.
Cllr Conaty who is from the Ballyhaise/Redhills area was first elected as a Sinn Fein Councillor in the June 2024 local election.
His appointment follows the election of Sarah O’Reilly to the Seanad who was the previous chair of the Bailieborough/Cootehill MD.

The youngest councillor from all of the 18 elected members of Cavan County Council says he is delighted to take up the role. He says he looks forward to the coming months as cathaoirleach of his local municipal district.
