A local councillor is calling on the Garda Commissioner and the Irish Government to make important documents relating to the Dublin-Monaghan bombings available to the appropriate authorities.
Cllr Sean Conlon put forward a motion at this week's sitting of Monaghan County Council ahead of today's anniversary marking 51 years since the atrocity.
Cllr Conlon says he raised the motion considering the "historical lack of accountability and co-operation" from the Irish Government in providing investigation documents relating to the Dublin-Monaghan bombings.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Conlon said he is "thinking of the families" who have suffered under such tragic circumstances.
According to the Sinn Fein representative, "another year on puts into focus the denial of justice experienced by survivors and those who lost a loved one as a result of the bombings."
He has called on the Irish Government to "step up" to the plate when it comes to providing information.
