Close to €500,000 spent on cleaning toxic sludge in Co. Monaghan

Since 2020, Monaghan County Council has spent almost €500,000 cleaning up the sludge.

There's concern over toxic sludge from illegal diesel laundering being dumped near Co. Monaghan.
Since 2020, Monaghan County Council has spent almost €500,000 cleaning up the sludge.

Five containers have also been dumped in the Kilcurry area of Co. Louth, with two dumped in Roskeagh last week.
The two local authorities say there have been more than 220 clean-up operations in the period between 2020 and midway through last year.
