Cavan/Monaghan Education and Training Board marked the official opening of their new apprenticeship training facility in Milltown Business Park, Monaghan this week.
The new centre will cater specifically to Electrical and Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) Engineering apprenticeships.
The project which was supported by SOLAS and the National Apprenticeship Office, features three fully equipped specialist workshops and modern classroom spaces, all designed to support hands-on learning and foster technical excellence.
The centre's resources reflect a strong commitment to excellence in training, ensuring that learners are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of the engineering and electrical sectors, both locally and nationally.
The development is part of a broader initiative by CMETB to expand Further Education and Training (FET) opportunities across the region, supported by national funding and local partnerships. In particular, the Electrical Apprenticeship programme has faced a national backlog in recent years, making this facility a welcome and much-needed resource for learners and employers alike.
Speaking at the launch, Dr Linda Pinkster, Director of Further Education and Training (FET) at CMETB, said: "This new facility reflects CMETB's commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant training. It not only addresses immediate skills shortages in sectors such as electrical and OEM engineering but also offers long-term opportunities for learners to build rewarding careers. Apprenticeships are vital to the future of our economy and workforce, and this investment is a key step forward."
The Milltown campus is now fully operational, with 44 apprentices already engaged in training. If you are interested in an apprenticeship, please contact [email protected]
