A Co Cavan pest control provider is offering advice on how to keep homes pest-free during the winter season.
Mark Moore from Ballyjamesduff work for Rentokil, Ireland's leading pest control provider.
The Co Cavan man says the most popular creatures that will infest homes in the coming months will be brown rats and house mice.
According to Mark, gaps around pipes, beneath outer doors, broken drains, and missing airbricks are all common locations where rats and mice can squeeze through and subsequently make their way into kitchens, halls, and living areas.
The expert also warned that rodents can budge up and downpipes, into gaps in facia boards, and through open doors in their attempts to enter a warm property.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Mr Moore says prevention is always the best step in pest control.
He says Rentokil's winter advice focuses on pest prevention by sealing entry points, removing food sources, and reducing clutter to stop rodents and insects from entering homes seeking warmth and food; key steps include securing bins, storing food in airtight containers, clearing garden debris, checking attics/basements, and maintaining cleanliness to deter pests like mice, rats, and spiders during colder months.
