The late Pope Francis has been described locally as a "very humble man who had great vision." Former curator of Cavan County Museum, Savina Donohoe told this morning's Joe Finnegan that Pope Francis "practiced what he preached." Savina who is an active member within the Kilmore Diocese praised his legacy of Synodality which she hopes will be continued on by the next Pope.
Savina went on to describe this work by Pope Francis as a "wonderful achievement" during a time of crisis for the church. As a result of this decision, Savina says we now have Lay Minister's being trained within the Kilmore Diocese which will create positive changes. She added that in her opinion the late Pontiff has left a "wonderful legacy" that will challenge us all to go on and continue that work.
The Vatican has announced Pope Francis' coffin will be sealed at 8pm tomorrow evening, ahead of the papal funeral on Saturday morning. It will mark the end of public viewing in St. Peter’s Basilica, which has seen over 50,000 people pay their respects to the late Pope. The Basilica remained open overnight, just closing for an hour and a half before reopening to the public at 7 o'clock this morning.
