Sinn Fein's Sean Conlon has welcomed the decision to appoint a dedicated wildlife ranger for Co Monaghan. Cllr Conlon has highlighted the need to appoint a wildlife ranger for many years and how it would represent a small and critical step in starting the process of reversing serious environmental decline. The position which was sought after for quite some time according to Cllr Conlon comes with a new addition to the title.
The official title of the position will be the 'National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Ranger'. Speaking to Northern Sound, the local representative says the work of a ranger will cross over areas relating to biodiversity, environment, heritage, water and everything that relates to nature and the wildlife within it:
